Giant Cinnamon Roll

Cinnamon rolls are great, everyone loves them. What if I told you they can be even better? This Giant Cinnamon Roll is made like any other cinnamon roll, but instead of cutting them into individual pieces it is just one giant cinnamon roll, almost like a cake. If you love cinnamon rolls, you're going to love this Giant Cinnamon Roll too. The recipe is super easy to make, even though the long list of steps might look complicated at first. Don't let that scare you away. I promise the end result will be worth it.

Ingredients:

  • 360ml unsweetened plant-based milk of your choice

  • 115gr vegan margarine / vegan butter + 2 tbsp

  • 2 tsp fast-action dry yeast

  • 500 gr / 4 cups white bread flour

  • 60 gr / 1/2 cup white cane sugar + 2 tbsp

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

  • 1 cup powdered sugar + 1 tbsp plant-based milk, optional

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan over low heat, warm up the unsweetened plant-based milk of your choice with the vegan margarine/butter, until the margarine/butter is melted. Mix in the dry yeast, but be careful if the mixture is too hot it could kill the yeast, it should be lukewarm. Set it aside for 5 minutes or until the yeast is foamy.

  2. Meanwhile, mix the flour and sugar together in a large mixing bowl.

  3. Add the yeast mixture to the mixing bowl with the dry ingredients and knead for 10-15 minutes. The dough should be fluffy, soft and not sticky.

  4. Place your dough into a bowl and cover it with a damp kitchen towel. Set it aside, somewhere warm, and let the dough rise for about an hour or until doubled in size.

  5. To make the filling, mix together vegan butter, sugar, and cinnamon.

  6. Lightly flour your work surface and take the risen dough out of the bowl. Roll the dough out into a long rectangular shape.

  7. Sprinkle the filling evenly across on top of the dough, before cutting it into 3 long strips.

  8. Roll up 1 strip then continue rolling them into each other, making once giant cinnamon roll.

  9. Place your cinnamon roll into a lightly greased or parchment lined cake tin. This will help to keep the shape.

  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.

  11. Optionally, make a powdered sugar icing by combining powdered sugar and plant-based milk. Drizzle the icing on top of the warm cinnamon roll.

  12. Let the cinnamon roll cool down before serving.
