I've shared all kinds of cinnamon rolls on the blog already, so I thought it was about time I shared a classic cinnamon roll recipe as well. Cinnamon Rolls are one of my favorite things to make, because it's so amazing to see 5 simple ingredients come together and make a fluffy, soft dough.
For the dough you need:
360 ml / 1 1/2 cup unsweetened plant-based milk of your choice
115 g / 1/2 cup vegan butter
2 tsp fast-action dry yeast
500 g / 4 cups white bread flour
60 g / 1/2 cup white sugar
For the filling:
2 tbsp vegan butter, softened
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
3 tbps white sugar
Instructions:
Heat the plant-based milk of your choice with the vegan butter in a saucepan, over low heat, until the butter is melted. Mix in the dry yeast, but be careful if the mixture is too hot it could kill the yeast, it should be lukewarm. Set it aside for 5 minutes or until the yeast is foamy.
Meanwhile, mix the flour and sugar together in a large mixing bowl.
Add the activated yeast to the mixing bowl with the dry ingredients and knead for 10 minutes. The dough should be fluffy, soft, and not sticky.
When the dough has been kneaded, place it into a bowl and cover it with a damp kitchen towel. Set it aside, somewhere warm, and let the dough rise for about an hour or until doubled in size.
To make the filling, mix together vegan butter, sugar, and cinnamon.
Lightly flour your work surface and take the risen dough out of the bowl. Roll the dough out into a long rectangular shape.
Spread out the filling evenly on top of the dough. Cut the dough into 6-8 strips, then roll each stirp of dough up.
Place the cinnamon rolls on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake them for 20-25 minutes.
Let the cinnamon rolls cool down completely before enjoying them.
