Crispy Tofu Sticks

These Tofu Sticks are easy to make, super crispy, flavorful, and full of plant-based protein. There are so many different ways you can prepare tofu and incorporate it into your meals, but this is one of my favorite ways use tofu. If you hate tofu because it's bland and has no flavor, you have to try this recipe. Yes, tofu doesn't have much flavor on it's own but that means you can flavor it however you want to!



Ingredients:

  • 460g firm tofu

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1/2 cup flour

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened plant-based milk of choice

  • 4 tbsp smoked paprika, oregano

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • neutral, high heat oil to fry


Instructions:

  1. To a shallow mixing bowl add breadcrumbs and season with 2 tbsp oregano, 2 tbsp smoked paprika, and salt and pepper to taste.

  2. In a separate shallow mixing bowl combine flour, the rest of the seasonings, and salt and pepper to taste.

  3. Pour unsweetened plant-based milk into a third shallow mixing bowl.

  4. Cut the tofu into roughly 2 cm wide sticks.

  5. Coat a tofu stick with the flour, then dip into the plant-based milk, and coat with the breadcrumbs. I recommend using 2 separate forks for the dry and wet mixtures.

  6. Repeat the process until you have used up all the tofu.

  7. To a pan add some neutral, high heat oil and let it heat up.

  8. Once the oil is hot, add a few tofu sticks to the pan and fry for a couple minutes on all sides until golden brown and crispy.

  9. Serve warm and enjoy!
